Joan directs and manages RS Group, a Hong Kong based single-family office with a focus on impact investing and sustainability related issues, a philanthropic portfolio that provides strategic funding to projects tackling the issues of climate change and access to justice, as well as supporting the development of social entrepreneurship and social innovation in Hong Kong. She is also the manager of RS Group’s communication strategy, providing key organizational support to RS Group on its efforts to advocate for the development of sustainable finance in Hong Kong’s financial industry.
Joan is the co-founder and convenor of Hong Kong Social Innovation Drinks, an informal gathering and online platform that brings together young professionals interested in social innovation to exchange ideas and solutions to social issues, as well as to share opportunities and foster the development of career paths in the social innovation sector.
Joan was previously a senior associate at the Great China office of Ashoka, an international NGO with a focus on promoting social entrepreneurship, and also worked on Clinton Global Initiative’s 2008 Asia meeting in Hong Kong. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Hong Kong.
